Announcing a new commission for a Woman Writer of Colour

Thanks to a recent generous donation, Writers Victoria is offering a Woman of Colour based in Victoria a paid commission for a new piece of work to be published in The Victorian Writer magazine (to the value of $200).
 
Submissions must align with one of our upcoming themes, which are:
  • October-November: Chrysalis – emerging writers, emerging from the margins, transformative reading/writing
  • December-January: Recovery – personal or planetary, pre- or post-pandemic; recovered memories/stories/culture/history; re-writing; rediscovered literary classics
To apply, you can submit short stories, poems, creative non-fiction, or non-fiction works up to 1600 words. (800-1200 words are preferred.) 150-word pitches for non-fiction will also be considered, but please note that the full non-fiction piece being pitched will need to be 800 to 1600 words. 
 
To  submit your application, please upload it to this online form by 10am on Friday 31 July 2020. 
 
Your submission should include:
  • A 25-word bio.
  • A short statement about the piece.
  • Your piece in full or pitch (full pieces are preferred).
The final commissioned piece will be chosen by communications and development professional, writer, and Chair of the Board of Writers Victoria, Noé Harsel.
