A portrait of Marie Alafaci
02 May 2021 - 10:00 to 4:00 PM
Marie Alafaci
Early, Emerging
Join author Marie Alafaci for a day of exploration and inspiration. We’ll look at what makes great nonfiction and explore what you’re writing (and why). Whether you have hopes of writing a cookbook, a listicle or a biography (and almost anything in between), whether you’ve got a half-formed idea or a whole first draft, this workshop will bring focus and energy to your project and help you develop a plan to complete it.

You will learn:

  • about the different types of nonfiction

  • how to analyse language, style and purpose in nonfiction works

  • how to use observational skills to bring nonfiction to life

  • how to stay motivated when working on a large project

  • how to research your potential market and potential publishers.

Bring along:

  • Bring up to three current works that represent the type of work you want to develop.
