You may have heard of sensitivity or cultural readers: professional readers with lived experience who can assess your manuscript for inconsistencies, insensitivities, stereotypes, and dangerous portrayals of that experience. But using a sensitivity reader doesn’t make your story immune to criticism. An evening of questions and exploration of this growing area of editing.Details
This evening will be run as a Q&A session and participants will be invited to submit their questions before and during the seminar.

About Marisa Wikramanayake
Marisa Wikramanayake is a freelance editor, journalist and writer based in Melbourne but working for clients across the world. When not staring at a lot of text in order to feed the cat, she games and dabbles in bits of the Internet.
About Diem Nguyen
Diem Nguyen holds a BA (Hons) in Gender Studies from the University of Melbourne where she wrote her thesis on rape culture and femininity in young adult literature. She has worked at the Centre for Youth Literature and was a Creative Producer at the Emerging Writers’ Festival. She is currently studying for a Master of Arts and Cultural Management.
About Emma Osborne
Emma Osborne is a queer, non-binary fiction writer and poet from Melbourne, Australia. Their writing has appeared in Uncanny Magazine, Nightmare Magazine, Shock Totem: Tales of the Macabre and Twisted, Apex Magazine, Queers Destroy Science Fiction, Pseudopod, the Review of Australian Fiction, and GlitterShip.
