A carefully chosen detail can do so much work; whether in fiction or non-fiction, it can build character and setting, evoke a host of symbolic resonances, and bring your reader into the world of your writing in a visceral, bodily sense. But getting the balance between too much detail and not enough is notoriously tricky. With a combination of tuition, examples and exercises, this webinar will help you achieve that balance in your own writing. If you haven't done a webinar before, it's easy to join in. Emily Bitto is an award-winning writer of fiction, poetry and non-fiction. Her debut novel, The Strays, won the 2015 Stella Prize. She has a Masters in Literary Studies and a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Melbourne, and has been teaching creative writing for over a decade.
