Drawing on three decades as a writer of fiction and non-fiction, ranging from short story and features, to novels and memoir, Zable will explore the inspirations, literary influences, sources of ideas, and practical lessons learnt in confronting the empty page, and bringing many works to fruition.
The journey has led to an understanding of the humanising power of story, and how to give voice to oneself, and how to inspire others to find their voice.
Arnold Zable
Arnold Zable is an acclaimed Australian writer, novelist, and human rights advocate. His books include Jewels and Ashes, The Fig Tree, Café Scheherazade, Scraps of Heaven, Sea of Many Returns, Violin Lessons, and most recently, The Fighter. Widely travelled, he is also the author of numerous stories, essays, columns, features and works for theatre. He has a doctorate in creative arts, and has been a lecturer and writer-in-residence, internationally and in a range of Australian Universities.
